Meet Dr. CJ Swanlund
Hi, I am Dr. CJ Swanlund and I am a Licensed Psychologist and a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. I have been an athlete my whole life. I grew up in Minnesota and played ice hockey, golf, tennis, and soccer, and competed in figure skating. In high school, I also did downhill ski racing. I golfed for the College of Saint Benedict and post-college, I coached high school girls golf. Athletics and being active are a central part of my life.
Experience
I have spent the majority of my career working in college mental health. Most of my sport Psych professional experience has been working with individual college and high school athletes. I really enjoy working with adolescents and adults!
Athletes and performers have so many strengths that are easy to draw upon in our work together. They are often familiar with working hard physically, fine-tuning aspects of their craft, and not giving up easily, which are incredibly useful skills when harnessing the mental side of things. I get really jazzed up about helping folks translate lessons and strengths from sport and performing to their other important arenas of functioning like school, work, and relationships.

Clients can expect to work hard, but also have a lot of fun. Counseling and performance consulting with me is an active, collaborative and goal-oriented process for change that occurs within a strong, supportive and healing relationship. My priority is to help clients feel heard, understood, respected and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
